Fishing Notes

Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-08-28

This policy explains what data the Fishing Notes mobile app (“the App”) collects, how it is used and what rights you have. The App runs on Android and is distributed through Google Play.

1. Who is responsible

The App is the project of a private individual, not a company. For anything to do with privacy, write to kondzio6@gmail.com.

2. Data stored on your device

The App saves the following in your phone’s own storage:

None of this is sent to any server belonging to the author. The App has no user account and no sign-in.

3. Android Auto Backup

The App uses Android’s built-in Auto Backup. The database and photos may therefore be included in the encrypted backup held on your own Google Drive, according to your Android settings. That backup belongs to you and is not accessible to us. You can turn backups off in your Android settings.

4. Permissions the App asks for

5. Third-party services

The App uses the services below. What they collect is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. Google Maps

The map is provided by the Google Maps SDK. When you open a map view, Google may collect the technical data it needs to serve it — approximate location, IP address, device information. See Google’s privacy policy.

7. Google AdMob (ads)

The App shows ads served by Google AdMob, including the video ad that unlocks the advanced report. AdMob may use the Android advertising ID, IP address, device information and your interaction with the ads in order to serve personalised or contextual advertising and to measure it.

8. The advanced report

The advanced report is calculated entirely on your device from the catches you have saved. It is unlocked for the session by watching a video ad; nothing about your catches is sent to the ad network, to us or to anyone else in the process.

9. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

10. Sharing your data

The author of the App does not sell or share your personal data. The only exception is the scope described above under Google Maps and Google AdMob, which follows from using those services and is required for the corresponding features to work.

11. Keeping and deleting data

Data saved in the App stays on your device until you remove it. At any time you can:

12. Security

Data is held in the App’s private directory, which on a standard device is readable only by the App and the operating system.

13. Your rights

Because the data lives on your device, you control it directly. Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data and to have it corrected, erased or its processing restricted. For matters concerning ads and maps, those rights are exercised with Google directly, under their policies.

14. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated. The date of the last change is shown at the top of the page. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on this page.
